My name is Gabriel Mastrogiovanni. My father Ralph Mastrogiovanni passed away suddenly a few months ago.
He had a dream. The dream was the restoration and reconstruction of a 1969 36 foot Hatteras. Unfortunately that
dream was not realized. The Hatteras resides in Vineland New Jersey not too far from Wilmington Delaware, Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
I believe firmly that the boat has great value, real value beyond of course its sentimental value to me. However, its
value, its lore, its attraction is only for those select few who can see beyond a dim gel coat and who love Hatteras
much as my father did. I need not describe those types of “eyes. There are many of those sets of “eyes” in the world.
I have taken some photographs that will hopefully give some sort of perspective.
All of the information is not known about the boat but I will share some key facts:
My father was working with multiple boating professionals, one who was actually constructing molds and hulls.
I say this only to inform that this project was being overseen by knowledgeable individuals.
My father was quite industrious but he also knew his limitations.
His skills were the “hunting and gathering” of the necessities and identifying the right individuals for the particular job.
The Hatt has twin Cat 3208s that we have been informed are rebuilt.
We have had some interest in the Hatteras. However, my goal is to not merely part with my father’s dream but see to it that it arrives in capable hands, hands able to see the project to its end. There have been inquires made simply for the engines alone. I have no desire to cannibalize the Hatt and “sell off” as parts.
Sincerely,
Gabriel Mastrogiovanni
